Shri Lakshman Sidh is one of the most famous temples in Dehradun, which is part of the four Siddhas or Char Sidh peeth of Dehradun as well as 84 Sidh Peeths in India. Lakshman Baba is also among these four, hence this temple was named Lakshman Siddhpeeth Temple because he took Samadhi here.
According to another belief, after killing Ravana, Lord Lakshman did penance at this place to get rid of the guilt of Brahmahatya. Since ancient times, continuous smoke has been burning at the place of penance. It is said that this Akhand Dhuni is never blown through the mouth. Only the food prepared here is offered in the temple. The vibhuti of Dhuni are distributed to the devotees as Prasad.
In this temple, jaggery, ghee, curd etc. are offered to the Lord because in ancient times, jaggery and other ingredients were sweets, hence since ancient times, offerings of jaggery are offered in this temple. There is a well about 400 meters far from the Laxman Siddh temple. The story is about the well is that initially in the well, milk came out but later Lord Laxman by his power started the water to came out in this well.
On every Sunday, large number of devotees visit this temple. Laxman Sidh Fair is organized at Laxman Sidh Temple on last Sunday of April month every year. Thousands of devotees visit this temple during the annual Fair. Visitors can also experience the culture and customs of local tribes of the region during this fair. Each year a grand fair is organized in the temple on the last Sunday of April where thousands of devotees visit this temple.
