In the Treta period, famous Saint Shri Atri Ji and Mata Shri Anasuiya lived. All three God Bramha, Vishnu, and Mahesh who is known as Trinity came to Earth for the testing of penance of Shri Atri Ji and Mata Shri Anasuiya. Trinity was very happy with the penance of them. They promise to be born as her baby from his womb. Later Mata Shri Ansuiya gave birth to a baby boy who was the form of Trinity. They named his son Dattatreya. Dattatreya was very sharp-minded, powerful, and Bright. Lord Dattatreya gained knowledge from 24 Guru and became an expert in all types of skills. Dattatreya had many powers. Lord Dattatreya later became popular and famous as Guru Dattatreya Ji.

Lord Dattatreya had 9 Naths and 84 disciples(Sisya). They trained all of them for human welfare. As time passed Lord Dattatreya became old and called all his disciples. Lord Dattatreya said to all disciples to do worship of Lord Shiva and get the powers from them. Lord Dattatreya blessed all disciples to get success in life and doing human welfare. All these 84 disciples went in all over India for human welfare and started the Tapasya. The places where all these 84 disciples of Lord Dattatreya did Tapasya, later famous as Sidh Peeth.

Laxman Sidh Peeth, Kalu Sidh Peeth, Manak Sidh Peeth, and Madhu Sidh Peeth temples are the four Sidh peeth temples in Dehradun, where saints performed rigorous penance thousands of years ago. The specialty of these four Siddhas is that only jaggery is offered here.

Shri Lakshman Sidh is one of the most famous temples in Dehradun, which is part of the four Siddhas or Char Sidh peeth of Dehradun as well as 84 Sidh Peeths in India. Lakshman Baba is also among these four, hence this temple was named Lakshman Siddhpeeth Temple because he took Samadhi here.

According to another belief, after killing Ravana, Lord Lakshman did penance at this place to get rid of the guilt of Brahmahatya. Since ancient times, continuous smoke has been burning at the place of penance. It is said that this Akhand Dhuni is never blown through the mouth. Only the food prepared here is offered in the temple. The vibhuti of Dhuni are distributed to the devotees as Prasad.

In this temple, jaggery, ghee, curd etc. are offered to the Lord because in ancient times, jaggery and other ingredients were sweets, hence since ancient times, offerings of jaggery are offered in this temple. There is a well about 400 meters far from the Laxman Siddh temple. The story is about the well is that initially in the well, milk came out but later Lord Laxman by his power started the water to came out in this well.

On every Sunday, large number of devotees visit this temple. Laxman Sidh Fair is organized at Laxman Sidh Temple on last Sunday of April month every year. Thousands of devotees visit this temple during the annual Fair. Visitors can also experience the culture and customs of local tribes of the region during this fair. Each year a grand fair is organized in the temple on the last Sunday of April where thousands of devotees visit this temple.

Shri Kalu Sidh is one of the most famous temples in Dehradun, which is part of the four Siddhas or Char Sidh peeth of Dehradun as well as 84 Sidh Peeths in India. Shri Kalu Baba is also among these four, hence this temple was named Kalu Siddhpeeth Temple because he took Samadhi here.

There is no roof over the temple of Shri Kalu Sidh Baba. Baba does not like pitched roof. Many attempts were made in the past but they were not successful. A hundred years ago, Baba used to provide utensils in the form of invisible power for Bhandara and any auspicious work in the temple. But during this time some devotee left the utensils lying in the temple. Since then the utensils became invisible. Today, devotees keep organizing bhandara and puja at his holy place after their wishes are fulfilled.

In this temple, jaggery, ghee, curd etc. are offered to the Lord because in ancient times, jaggery and other ingredients were sweets, hence since ancient times, offerings of jaggery are offered in this temple. It is also believed that two huge apes, with the ability to change shapes, are found near the temple. Those who witness them are considered to be blessed.

The temple is believed to be the meditation site of Baba Mandu, who attained enlightenment and left his body at this spot. The temple has two ponds nearby where the devotees offer milk. it can see the cave where Shri Baba Mandu meditated, near the temple.
